BetterRuins

Great idea, but unbalanced implementation. Exploring can find way too much good loot, making the mod OP. Even with the two auxiliary mods that reduce the chance of good loot and the spawn rate of ruins/mega structures this is still the case.

Crucible Capacity

While it is absurd that a single, small crucible can hold enough molten metal to make an entire anvil, it is equally absurd that we can’t make larger crucibles, or work with multiple crucibles at once. There’s no joy in tedium, nor in RSI.

Wildcraft trees

More variety is cool, but people are reporting world gen issues (no oak trees, tiny walnut trees), and canes clutter the inventory. Also it doesn’t seem to play well with the changed tree generation in Wild Farming.

Expanded Foods / A Culinary Artillery

I don’t understand why this mod is so popular. It has a nice idea: make cooking more complex. But it feels so stupidly half-arsed, in particular mod integration. You can boil/simmer a fish fillet from Primitive Survival, which you get by using a knife on a whole fish. But you can’t boil fish meat that you get from harvesting a dead fish. From Wildcraft, all vegetables are considered herbs, even thoughs that are really vegetables, like celery.

Also, the UI isn’t great, either. When using the sauce pan, there is zero indication if the recipe is valid. It will start to heat up, it will play its animation, and there is never the green arrow showing progress. If your recipe is one it likes, you’ll get a result at some point. If not, it’ll just keep cooking forever. This can happen due to things as banal as having too much water as an ingredient.

The manual isn’t clear about what can be boiled in the sauce pan. It would be clear if “all meats” actually included all meats, or if vegetables from mods were really considered vegetables. Additionally, a lot of simmering is implemented as baking recipes, and the Handbook for items such as crab meat won’t tell you that you can “bake” in a sauce pan.
